Cause of brake, abs and traction control light to flash in a 2000 vw passat?
It is a 2000 vw passat. 2 days ago the Brake, ABS, and Traction-control light flashed along with the word STOP in the information center (in the dash) for about 2 seconds then went away. 10 mins later did the same thing again.
No fluid is leaking from the car, there is plenty of brake fluid as well. There are no strange new sounds in the engine, no funny smells, or anthing like that. Any Idea what it could be? I have not driven the car since it did this and have to wait a bit before I can take it to the local VW dealer here in Alaska. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
When a single wheel sensor has a problem,all 3 warnings will go on.It may be a loose connection or frayed wire.When the warnings are activated,the vehicle turns off the ABS and traction control,however the normal braking is not affected.
