Multiple GFCI switchs tripping...help!?
I just moved into this house about a month ago, its 7 years old. Over the past couple weeks the GFCI switch in the garage was tripping about once every 2 or 3 days(nothing plugged in it) When it would trip, it would cause the outlet in the basement to not work...so today i replaced the GFCI outlet and the basement outlet with brand new ones, and hopefully that will solve the problem. But i noticed the GFCI switch in my kitchen also was tripped and it knocked out a few outlets, so it looks like something is wrong causing multiple GFCI's to randomly trip. What could cause this and how do i check it?
I have read all these answers and agree with them but I ask you one more thing? Have you had a storm or a lightning strike recently near your house. If you have had one close to you they can damage the internal circuit boards in a GFCI breaker or receptacle both.
I have changed many through the years due to this problem as well as just being old and need replaced too.
