Any ideas on how to celebrate an International Women's Day at the public university?

I have to come up with 10-- we have $3,000 to spend-- maybe a discussion panel, special speakers (who?), luncheon???

You could have students from different countries speak at a panel discussion. If it is appropriate for the issues to be serious, a good idea would be to have a panel discussion about how battered women and treated and handled in different cultures.

Other panel discussion ideas: women in the workplace, prenatal healthcare and education in poor countries, famous women and their impact on different countries, or the objectification of women in different cultures.

Another cool idea would be to serve food from different countries. If you sell it, it could then be donated to a battered women's shelter or go towards giving an international student a scholarship to the university for nest semester.

You could also gather recipes, create a book with all the countries' flags on the cover, and then sell them, with the proceeds going to a local soup kitchen or a group that helps indigent women get prenatal care.

You could do a fashion show if you want things to be lighthearted and fun. If you want it to be really silly, you could have men dress up as women from different countries.

You could do a tribute to women leaders throughout history - Queen Elizabeth, Indira Gandhi, Condaleeza Rice, etc.
