Resistant Gfci
Are weather resistant gfci outlets code for outdoor installation?
I am installing a few gfci outlets along my covered walk around lanai for an as built electrical inspection. I just bought and installed the proper 20 Amp gfci outlets and weatherproof boxes. Then I just realized that they make "weather resistant" gfci outlets for damp and wet locations. My question is, is it generally code for ALL outdoor outlets to be weather resistant gfci's AND have the weatherproof box? Or is a regular gfci outlet ok as long as it has the weatherproof box? Thanks!

The outlets where already existing, no conduit. All I am doing is replacing the old 20A outlets with new GFCI outlets AND weather proof in use boxes. I am just going to wing it and see if he says anything. Thanks all.
Yes, it is code. Since the 2011 code came out, all outdoor GFCI receptacles "shall" be "weather-resistant. You must have a weather-proof box and a "In-use" weather-proof cover as well. Just so I can say that I warned you, the conduit that you use to feed the box, can NOT be the "sole mounting means".Good luck and may God bless.
