peg perego thomas tank not working?

Hi, my daughter had a Peg Perego Thomas the tank engine it always worked great. Now, we have sold it and the person who purchased it says they can't get it to work. I need help! Does anyone have any advice on what to do to get this thing to work. They say they have charged the battery. They say it will not even make a sound. Maybe it is something really simple. Please help!

Is this the one that you (the child) ride on and goes around on the tracks? We had issues with this also. The rider had to keep the buttons pressed for it to "go".
