Are vintage/antique table lamps dangerous?
I want to buy some antique lamps for my bedroom, from the 1950's and 60's. I was wondering if the electrical cords that plug into the wall are a fire hazard when they are this old. Also would it be bad to use a few of these old lamps with a triple outlet adapter or would that be even more dangerous? Can someone help?
Hard to say.... they may be in great working order. and no using a trip outlet will not make it any more or less hazardous. If just one catches on fire its going to do that if you have 1 or 3 plugged in.
usually if they have bad wiring all they do would put out a spark and trip the breaker.
Just to be safe though you can replace the wiring in these lamps easily enough at home depot a lamp kit cost less than $10.
